Wilan Energy Park

Capacity
Up to 800 megawatts of wind energy combined with battery energy storage (BESS)
Status
In Development
Location
Willowvale, Sturt Highway, NSW
Outline

Project Overview

The Wilan Energy Park is located in the NSW Riverina, having boundaries approximately 25km east of Balranald, 40km north of Moulamein and 55km west of Hay.

Wilan Energy Park is located within the Southwest Renewable Energy Zone, in an area with strong wind resources and very low population density being located across 23,000 Ha of pastoral lands used for sheep and cattle grazing.

Wind measurements demonstrate strong complementarity with the broader energy mix being developed in NSW and particularly with solar energy. The southern boundary of the site is adjacent to the Sturt Highway and 8km to the north of the new 330kV Energy Connect transmission line.

The project is expected to have up to 122 wind turbines with a generation capacity of up to 800MW.
